Does Your Business Need a Website?

Does your business need a website? People have asked me so many times when they see my website. They're like, how did you create it? Did you pay someone for it? How much do you have to pay for a website subscription? How much do you have to pay for a domain? And I am answering all your questions today. The first thing is, I made my website myself. The second thing is, yes, currently, I am on a subscription plan for Wix. But I was using the free version of it till 4th September 2020. That's when I decided to purchase the domain and paid version of Wix. So getting back to the topic. In my last blog, I also mentioned that a website helped me set boundaries, plus, it's solved most of my problems. If you are facing any of these problems, you need a website or a platform as well.

❌Problem #1: For Product Based Business Owners

The first problem that you might be facing as a business owner, especially for product based businesses, if you're operating on Instagram, scrolling through your DMs, to find out who placed an order, writing the addresses in a notebook and then losing them. I was taking the orders for my first product on like Instagram itself. I would take the address on chat, and I would save it. Then I would have to scroll down to find which username purchased this. Also I will have to make sure I flagged t their messages so that I can find them again [This is another way if you still are kind of a technology, scared person and you don't want to set up a website]. People tend to change their usernames, and it is so annoying to find them after a point of time. They might de-activate their account as well. So it's kind of scary. If you are facing this problem, then you need to automate your ordering process. There are two ways that you can go about it. First, you can either create your own website. And if you need help with it, you can always reach out to me book a one on one session with me I help in creating websites. And I will teach you how to do it so that you don't have to pay someone else to do it for you till the time you're not at that stage, of course. So you can create a website and list your products there. Another way is, if you don't want to create an entire website, you can register on either Razorpay. This is just for Indian audiences and then there will be an option to create landing pages. So you only create this one page for the one product that you have. You don't have to create an entire website, not a homepage, not an About Me page. You just create this one landing page, which is about your product and you send the link or put the link in your bio on Instagram and let people purchase your products through that link. You will have all those addresses in one place.

❌Problem #2: For Service/ Interaction Based Businesses

The next problem, especially for service based or interaction based entrepreneurs, is that if you have to offer services like one on one calls, you might have to send time slots. They will say, I am not free at this time. Do you have any other slots available? Are you free at this time, I am only free at this time and all that stuff. It creates weak boundaries, people feel like you are available at their fingertips. So what you're going to do is, if you create a website. The client only gets to see the ones that are available, they book a call, they have to make the payment right away. They also have to fill a form, which tells me exactly what it is that they want to talk about. This has been a lifesaver. The email automatically gets sent to them. The link is scheduled, I don't have to create a zoom link, they have to join on their own.

❌Problem #3: For Both Types of Businesses

Now, problem three is something that is faced by everyone. If you are relying on just one platform, then you will be facing this problem. If you're in India, you know that Tik-Tok got banned. Similarly, there was news about Instagram getting banned. You don't own Facebook, you don't own Instagram, I want you to be very clear about that. What you do own what you can own is your domain, your website, your blog, your email list. These are the things that you can own. But if you don't want to build an entire website, I help you find a ways around it. So you can drop me a message or just book a call with the link in the menu for 1:1 sessions. So basically, if you want to have a booking system, but not create a website, because even for taking bookings, you need to pay in Wix. So if you want to find a new way around it, which is free, I'm your thrifty business owner, friend. I can help you out with it with multiple ways.

Homework

So your homework is to ask yourself, am I relying on one platform? If yes, what is something that my website can help me with? Tip: Please always have a goal for your website. I was revamping my entire website. And I did not have a goal for that revamp. Thus, I felt like pulling my hair out and crying all the time because I did not even know why I'm doing this. Always be clear about - What problem does it actually solve for you?
